Doula - Mama connections are each so very special and unique . Support needed is so different and needs to be versatile and that's why I love being a doula who can offer mother-centered support.  

I thrive  in learning and experiencing everything I can  in order to  keep growing as a doula and a mama myself.  I've indulged myself in learning and serving special knowledges of having a well supported hospital birth, home birth, supporting multi lingual families (especially English/Japanese), breastfeeding, postpartum wellness, babywearing, cloth diapering, herbal and natural remedies, being an Owner & Director of Baby aWearness and Mama Goddess Birth Shop, and of course, being a wife and mother of 3. 

Through our real life experiences of spending time with families, we've  developed our Baby aWearness Doula Program to meet different families' needs in many ways, including phone consultation-only programs.

"When I was pregnant with my 4th child, I was feeling anxious because of previous hospital experiences. I simply needed someone educated and experienced to be my voice in the hospital room so that I could focus all my energy into bringing my baby into this world without being pressured in any way by anybody. The only person my husband and I trusted with this would of course be Maria. She was so great during the whole process, she made sure she held the sacred space I needed in that room. She was my voice and when my baby passed meconium in the womb and the doctor was not yet there,  she  supported me and  made sure that it was time to get baby out as soon as possible while ushering the doctor in. I am so grateful for Maria. Because of her knowledge and awareness, our baby came into this world healthy and safe without possibly inhaling meconium which could have been really dangerous. Maria is wise, experienced, gentle and nurturing and is someone any mother can feel safe with, she will always have our full trust. She's a blessing to all who know her. "Going through steps toward motherhood is worrisome. I had so many questions and yes internet sometimes helped but not to the point where I feel confident. I wanted to talk to someone be besides my doctor but yet has the expertise. After doing some research, I learned about the word Doula for the first time. I then looked for a doula here in Honolulu and that was when I contacted my amazing doula, Maria, very professional and friendly. She guided us through the process during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. I was determined to breastfeed at that time. With her knowledge and expertise, it made a big difference.
